Did you know that Minneapolis has its own Central Park? Well, it did until Charles Loring came around at the turn of the century and earned himself a whole park. These days, Loring Park is home to the best afternoon a sunny day can hold. Play a game of pickup basketball, hit tennis balls, or even try out cricket and horseshoes. Cool off with a picnic or a walk through the flowers with the Basilica of St. Mary silhouetting the skyline. The kiddos can swing around on the park's jungle gym and chase ducks around the lake. Extend your stroll and head across the blue and yellow Irene Hixon Whitney Bridge into the Wonderland-esque Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. Finally, head back and you'll find sustenance and a perfect view at one of the many restaurants surrounding the park's edge.
