For a golden afternoon at a challenging disc golf course, Hansen Park in New Brighton has a dozen holes staked about a sprawling wood. Some shots are pretty tight, cornered up between old trees, so you need a good eye. There are no flashing neon markers or checkered flags waving over the baskets here. It's just you and the post, the clanking of the chains, and the shivering aspen. Hansen Park also has a myriad of hiking paths, a new playground, and a rocky creek cutting through the underbrush. It's a beautiful park in its own right, and the people who use it have always been considerate about picking up after themselves.
