Best Food Truck Turned Brick-and-Mortar
Not so long ago, Twin Cities diners were largely (woefully) oblivious to the glory that is the arepa. Now we can't stop thinking about them. One cheery little blue truck is to thank for that: Hola Arepa's addictive meat- and salsa-stuffed corn cakes were such popular food truck fare, owners Christina Nguyen and Birk Stefan Grudem were able to open a brick-and-mortar operation this year. The small south Minneapolis kitchen has been buzzing ever since. The new space allows for a fabulous brunch service (the best, in our estimation), a craft cocktail program, and a charming patio for enjoying their pillowy yuca fries and a shredded beef and plantain arepa. For now, that signature blue food truck is on hiatus, parked in the lot of the packed eatery until it's time to spread the arepa gospel some more.
