Browse your typical comics-news website, and you might get the notion that the superhero crowd and the indie/art-comix set just don't mix. But out in the real world, there are people who feel like picking up an issue of Hawkeye, the latest Love & Rockets book, and a collection of Lisa Hanawalt comics all at the same place. Big Brain has been that place for so long that it's no wonder they've thrived, even through the leaner years of the comics direct market. Their stubborn and welcome disinterest in maintaining that useless hierarchy of "highbrow" and "lowbrow" comics means you're pretty much set whether you're making a beeline for Marvel TPBs and the old quarter-bin back issue stacks, picking up the latest installation of your favorite 30-volume manga, or keeping up with the recent Raw and Mome-schooled artists published by Fantagraphics and Drawn and Quarterly. If you're looking for something Big Brain doesn't carry, they can get it for you — but first you've got to figure out just what it could possibly be that they don't carry.
