In a world dominated by plastic personalities, WCCO distinguishes itself by having the most down-to-earth faces on air. Anchoring the evening newscasts is everyone's favorite husband-and-wife team of local TV: Frank Vascellaro and Amelia Santaniello. There are not many people who would want to work elbow-to-elbow with their spouse all day — and on camera no less — but Frank and Amelia make it work, bringing the viewer into their domesticity. This was the year that saw Jason DeRusha make the move to mornings, where his perpetually perky personality and talent for thinking quickly on his feet have found a good home. That left the valuable Good Question franchise without a host, and Heather Brown ably stepped in to fill DeRusha's big shoes. WCCO continues to be a market leader by not being afraid to be a channel of the people.
