The proliferation of farmers markets means it's no longer necessary to haul your cookies across town to track down the freshly grown bounty of the season. However, there remains only one market where you will always be able to find anything and everything you could ever need to stock your larder, and it's the Minneapolis Farmers Market, held every day throughout the season. From the giant chicken statue that greets you to the irresistible scent of those Polish sausages, peppers, and onions on the grill, it's hard not to be charmed by this market at the edge of downtown Minneapolis. There's no shortage of entertainment from chef cooking challenges, music, samples of flavors you didn't know you couldn't live without (like that Mean Green hot sauce or the Tollefson family's pork products), and people-watching. It's even easy to keep tabs on the market when you aren't there, with the always entertaining and informative Fresh & Local podcast. We're thankful for all the neighborhood markets, but the granddaddy remains the Minneapolis Farmers Market.
