Best Eastern European Restaurant (2014)

Over 50 years ago, Wasyl and Anna Kramarczuk opened their Ukrainian deli in northeast Minneapolis, and ever since, Kramarczuk's has been vending quality sausages, breads, pastries, and piroshkis. A vital part of the neighborhood's Eastern European legacy, Kramarczuk's is a Nordeast institution and one of the only places where you can enjoy a quick, traditional Eastern European lunch, and on your way out the door, grab a package of freshly made sausages, a starter for your borscht batch, and a bunch of kolachis to take home. One half specialty food shop and deli counter, and the other half cafeteria-style canteen, Kramarczuk's is buzzing with locals who swing in for a smoked sausage, a bowl of goulash, a bigger-than-your-head cabbage roll, or a plate of varenyky and sour cream. If you've got a not-so-adventurous palate in your party, don't fret: The deli sandwiches are delicious and accessible, and that just leaves more nalysnyky (meat stuffed crepes) and pirozhok (stuffed bread rolls) for the rest of us.
