Best Reunion (2014)

The Replacements

It's a tad bittersweet to give the Replacements the nod for best reunion, not only because they contend they never broke up before a 22-year break in live performances, but since the hometown heroes have yet to play a local show. Accounts of live performances featuring the current lineup of Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson (along with guitarist Dave Minehan and drummer Josh Freese) for Toronto, Chicago, and Denver Riot Fest appearances last year were stellar. Paul and Tommy also hit the studio to record the Songs for Slim EP at Flowers Studio in Minneapolis in late 2012 to raise funds for their old bandmate Slim Dunlap. Hopefully, the 'Mats will bring their raucous reunion tour back to the Twin Cities where it was born and where it most definitely belongs.
