In 2012, the Bachelor Farmer made Bon Appetit magazine's list of the 10 best new restaurants in the country. Then Marvel Bar, its sophisticated attached drinking lounge, was nominated for a James Beard Award in the Outstanding Bar Program category. If that wasn't enough, when POTUS came to town for a short visit, guess where he stopped for a lunch of pork rillettes, edible flower and pistachio salad, and salmon with sauce Choron and boiled potatoes? It should come as no surprise. Chef Paul Berglund has only gotten stronger in technique and more thoughtful in the execution of his deceptively simple food since the restaurant opened, and putting Krista Steinbach at the head of the pastry program added a welcome boost to the restaurant's dessert offerings. If Bachelor Farmer's promising kitchen team and Marvel's talented bartenders continue on this trajectory, this triple threat of food, drink, and impeccable service has a very good chance of becoming the quintessential Minnesota restaurant.
