Minneapolis has no shortage of quality radio stations that do justice to a scene that's in the middle of a new golden age. Off the Record scores points for keeping its ear to the soil, and keeping us aware of what's bustling in the scene's underbelly. With an in-studio every week and a rotation of the choicest local tracks, OTR, which airs Fridays from 3 to 5 p.m., is a staple for fans of Minneapolis music. Perhaps its biggest draw is that it's totally run by students at the University of Minnesota. That keeps the DJs filing out and in, perpetually young and starry-eyed — immune to the real-world cynicism and good-ol'-days nostalgia that comes with tenureship and, well, aging.
