Cinema Revolution

Not content to remain merely the Cities' most discerning collector of film art on DVD, the video store at the edge of the Wedge has actually endeavored to make culture at a time when all of cinephilia seems under siege. One indication of that immodest effort can be found in the shop's reference library of film books (where else can you consult Kracauer and Bazin before picking your nightly neorealist rental?); another is Cinema des Artistes, the monthly store-sponsored series of DVD projections on the big screen at the Varsity. Turns out they weren't kidding with that red-and-black revolutionary concept: These radical movie lovers are daring to assert that digital, at home and in the theater, can be a viable weapon of defense against the philistines waging that unholy war on film history.
