112 Eatery

Someone read our minds. We wanted a fine-dining restaurant where the food lived up to the description, but with environs cozy enough that we could feel comfortable after a show, dressed in First Ave casual. We wanted a spectrum of reasonably priced, well-thought-out menu items. We wanted this food, in these classy but comfortable surroundings, to be available well after the normal 10:00 p.m. closing time. And now, in the former home of Franks A Million, among other things, we finally have such a place. The charming pressed-tin ceiling, the beautiful wooden bar, the consistently great food of 112 Eatery are ours to be enjoyed, six nights a week (not Sundays) all the way up until 1:00 a.m. Finally! We enjoy the fancier food such as the seared ahi tuna, but appreciate that the lower-brow items are made with just as much care. And, perfectly fitting a restaurant open late enough to visit post-concert or -movie, but otherwise unheard of in the fine-dining realm, the menu options include breakfasty fare! The $7 bacon-egg-harissa sandwich, the delicious, fluffy fried bread with prosciutto (also $7), and the wonderfully flavored Chinese fried eggs (a mere five bucks!) are all perfect meals to indulge in after consuming a few drinks. Now that's our kind of fine dining.
