More than 250 species of birds spend some time each year in this marshy refuge, surrounded by the bustle of people and cars. When you arrive, stop in at the visitor center to pick up maps and tips on how to spot what you're looking for. On recent trips we've witnessed egrets, herons, and several types of warblers. If you're more dedicated than we are, you'll surely see pelicans, eagles, and falcons. There are more than 10,000 acres of wetlands, grasslands, forest and oak savannas to explore. Some of the most popular viewing locations include: Old Cedar Avenue, the Bass Ponds, and the Wilkie Unit. Call the park for specifics on hours of operation, educational programs, and directions.
