Say so long to any recent bouts of writer's block. Whatever is holding up your creative poetic energy, an evening with renowned spoken word poet Desdamona is sure to get the electricity flowing again.
The new writing group at Intermedia Arts, called Writing in Circles: Prompts & Poetics, will be led by Desdamona. On Tuesday, August 24, writers of all skill levels and genres are welcome. Just bring pen, paper, and an open mind.
During the two-hour Writing in Circles: Prompts & Poetics workshop, writers (age 19 and older) are encouraged to take part in sharing and giving feedback, while working on existing material and developing new ideas through writing prompts.
From 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. participants will engage in an open-minded writing workshop steered by the poet and songwriter Desdamona. The group will learn tips on networking within the Twin Cities, and among other helpful techniques, how to give and receive criticism constructively.
Desdamona is celebrated for her compelling poetry and fearless spoken word. A four-time winner of the Minnesota Music Award for Best Spoken Word Artist, the artist released her first full-length album INKLING
this year. Also one of the founding artists of the B-Girl Be program at Intermedia Arts
, her driving force has brought together female hip-hop artists in challenging the perception of women in this art form.
Most of all, this accessibility to her experience and gift for words at Intermedia Arts will surely bring forth an enlightening evening, and for just $3.
