'Work Party' launches tonight at Bryant-Lake Bowl

Work relationships can be tricky to navigate during office hours and afterward. Whether you're dealing with a cranky boss or a dicey co-worker, spending 40+ hours with the same group of people every week gets complicated.

What better way to illustrate the complex work tango we all take part in than with an awkward dance-theater performance? Work Party at the Bryant-Lake Bowl debuts tonight.

Work Party features choreographer Angharad Davies, and dancers Jaime Carrera, Alex Grant, and Taryn Griggs. The show uses a typical work place as the setting, with movement that is guaranteed to be awkward, twitchy, and revealing.

This new piece by Davies delves into how colleagues who barely even know one another map their ways through emotional and physical bonds together.

The movements question the ideas that one can use physical contact to get ahead, or that pretending to be someone you're not in the workplace can prove to be beneficial.

Work Party performances are at 7 p.m. tonight and next Friday, November 19, with doors opening at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10.
