Watch cat vids this morning: Golden Kitty voting is open

It's Monday. Time to cheer up while watching cat videos.

Now in its fourth year, the Walker Art Center's Internet Cat Video Festival brings thousands of feline lovers together to view and vote on clips, then meet for a live screening of cuteness. While the event has taken place on the Walker lawn and in the Grandstand of the Minnesota State Fair, this year it's coming to downtown St. Paul on August 12 to fill the new St. Paul Saints stadium in Lowertown. Barb Abney will host, and audiences will surely show up in their best kitty-themed garb.

But first, the videos! This morning the museum announced its nominees for the Golden Kitty, the people's choice award. Folks can now watch five nominated short films and vote for their favorite. Some videos simply capture the quirky moments of being a pet owner (apparently cats get brain freeze too), while others have quality production values, special effects, and scripts.

Videos are once again curated by Will Braden, of Henri Le Chat Noir fame, winner of the first Golden Kitty. You can watch all five nominees below. Vote for your favorite at the Walker Art Center's website here. Voting is open through July 31.
