Walking Dead's Michonne (Danai Gurira) to give commencement speech at Macalester

On the Walking Dead Danai Gurira plays a zombie-slaughtering bad-ass. In real life, she's an actor, playwright, and Macalester College graduate. She'll be in town this May, as the school has announced that she will be giving a commencement speech for graduating students.

She'll likely have some solid advice. After graduating from Macalester (class of '01) and going on to get her master's in acting at NYU, the Iowa-born/Zimbabwe-raised talent went on to pen two plays. The off-Broadway In the Continuum went on to win an Obie Award, while Eclipsed, featuring Lupita Nyong'o, was so well received it eventually moved to Broadway.

The actress is currently starring on the ever-popular The Walking Dead as a katana-wielding zombie slayer. Her next big move is to the big screen, as it was announced in January that Gurira landed a role in All Eyez on Me, a biopic on Tupac Shakur where she will play his mother.
