Twin Cities theater: weekend rundown

The sap is rising here in these parts about a month ahead of schedule, though indoor pursuits retain their appeal. Here's a quick look at the weekend in theater on both sides of the river. Because hope springs eternal, you never know which show will provide you with memories to get through the next arctic spell.Iron Ring continues at Children's Theatre Company. A gorgeous mix of Indian folklore and dance (courtesy of Ragamala Music and Dance Theater). This show packs a lot of story into its two hours, but sustains a tone and visual vibrance that keeps things from feeling too busy.

Safe as Houses opens this weekend. A comedy about a real-estate agent's open house from hell, with great local talent, promises dark laughs (CP A-list here).

This is the final weekend for the Guthrie's Macbeth; upstairs in the Dowling Studio is Coward's Women, which doesn't have much of a story (major understatement alert) but is a diverting hour is you're a fan of Noel's songs (Coward, not Gallagher).

We Gotta Bingo has two more shows (closing Saturday), should you have a jones for unapologetically silly interactive comedy.

The U of M's Sophomore Company presents a weekend of Shakespeare in repertory

It's Outta Here combines sketch comedy and other short pieces to celebrate the return of outdoor baseball to Minnesota. It's playing all over this spring; this weekend you can catch it at History Theatre
