Twin Cities Oktoberfest offers beer and lederhosen this weekend
Beer! Brats! What more magic words of encouragement do you need? It's time for Twin Cities Oktoberfest, which means it's time to celebrate being German. "Kiss me I'm German" doesn't quite have that ring to it, but who cares once the lederhosen, oompah music, and giant steins of beer appear on the scene?
There will be live music throughout the event, which lasts for two days beginning this Friday. The chances to polka in your dirndl will be plenty. Some of the featured groups include local 30-piece band the Bavarian Musikmeisters, who have been performing since 1985. The Jolly Huntsmen Band, Alpensterne, and S.G. Edelweiss are also scheduled to perform. Local brewing company Summit will supply plenty of their Oktoberfest brew, and there will also be wine available.
Twin Cities Oktober Fest takes place at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds and runs from 4 to 11 p.m. Friday and noon to 7 p.m. Saturday. Daily admission is $5 per person. Visit Twin Cities Oktoberfest for more information and for a special admission coupon.
The Bavarian Musikmeisters will polka your world.
