In free stuff to do this week we have a beer happy hour, a dance party, and an art show filled with fiber art.
Come take a look and plan your week.
Transmission (Varsity Theater, 1308 Fourth St. SE, Minneapolis)
It's the end of the month, so it's time for another Transmission blowout. This big free party will feature retro tunes and videos from the '80s and '90s, which is a blast regardless of whether or not you were partying to them the first time around. This installment will be heavy on New Order and Depeche Mode, so bring your melancholy sadness with you to the dance floor. 21+. 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday.
HGA's Small Expressions 2015 (Textile Center, 3000 University Ave. SE, Minneapolis; 612-436-0464)
The pieces in this annual show have big impact, but are tiny in size -- nothing over 15" tall or wide. The small-scale fiber art show features a variety of really unique pieces, including sculptural works, hand-knit QR codes, and more. The opening reception on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. features a 7 p.m. gallery talk by juror Nicole LaBouff.
