Art 4 Shelter

This Wednesday, the Burnet Gallery will be hosting over 1,000 pocket-sized works of art at the fourth annual Art 4 Shelter event. Here, you'll be able to check out pieces from 5 to 7 p.m. while enjoying appetizers. See something you like? At the stroke of 7 p.m. folks will be welcome to pluck artworks directly off the wall for purchase (most pieces are priced at $30). All proceeds from the evening benefit Simpson Housing Services, which works to end homelessness. 6-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Art in Bloom: Flowers After Hours

Each year, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts invites floral artists to create arrangements inspired be pieces from the museum's permanent collection. The results are gorgeous, and the event is a great way to welcome in spring. The weekend-long event kicks off Thursday, and the evening's Flowers After Hours is sure to be a good party. During the evening revelrs will be able to take in a runway show where the looks have been created using only flowers. There will also be a variety of activities, including paper flower making and more. 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

The Walker Art Center will be expanding its chef-in-resident series to include brewmasters this summer. At Thursday night's happening, guests will be invited to meet master brewer Matt Hall from Lift Bridge. He'll be chatting with folks about the brewery and the beers its offers, and those interested will be welcome to sample three varieties. On tap will be the Belgian pilsner malt, Farmgirl Saison; Hop Dish, an IPA containing seven types of hops; and the Getaway Pilsner, a brand-new pilsner with lots of hops as well. Larger-sized flights will be available for purchase, and Free Thursday night activities will be in full swing during the evening as well. 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
