This week in free stuff to do we have a week-long bike festival, a beer party, and an art show. Come take a look.
Minneapolis Bike Week (Various locations)
Last month, 30 Days of Biking invited folks to ride every day for the entirety of April. This week, Minneapolis Bike Week continues to encourage cyclists to enjoy our cities via two wheels. Each day will take on a theme, and offer a variety of meet-ups, challenges, and family-friendly gatherings in various neighborhoods. This includes happenings for those looking to learn more about Nice Ride, tours specifically geared toward female/femm/trans cyclists, afternoon trips encouraging people to frequent local businesses, and family-friendly meetups in parks. Check www.mplsbikeweek.org for a complete schedule, and sign up to lead your own ride should inspiration strike you. Monday through Sunday.
Minnesota Brewery Showcase (Muddy Waters, 2933 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis; 612-872-2232)
As any beer lover knows, Minnesota makes some delicious brews. This Monday, Muddy Waters will be celebrating this fact as their 30 taps will be taken over by beer-makers like Indeed, Fulton, Steel Toe, Surly, and Summit. There will be extra edibles on the menu as well, with Lone Grazer Creamery giving away cheese curds. 5 p.m. Monday.
Colin Matthes: Instructional and Flood Resistant Work (Bockley Gallery, 2123 W. 21st St., Minneapolis; 612-377-4669)
Before the world ends, you should check out the work of Colin Matthes. His latest series, "Essential Knowledge," features 10 pieces filled with tips and tricks should our world become flooded. There are paintings, posters, and instructional doodles that are as informative as they are creative. Other artists have also provided flood-resistant objects should disaster strike during the show. The opening reception takes place on Thursday, May 14, from 6 to 9 p.m.
