Winter Open Hot Shop

(Chicago Avenue Fire Arts Center, 3749 Chicago Ave. S., Minneapolis, 612-294-0400)

A mid-week art party is always a good way to celebrate hump day. At this one there will be artist demonstrations, food and drink, and more. Wednesday, 6:30-9 p.m.

Mid-Week Beer Geek: A Night of Twin Peaks

itemprop

(Nomad World Pub, 501 Cedar Ave. S., Minneapolis, 612-338-6424, www.nomadpub.com)

Things are going to be fabulously weird at this installment of the Midweek Beer Geek. Each Wednesday, brew lovers come together at the Nomad World Pub to sample unique beers and talk about their favorite pints with experts. This week, they'll also be toasting to David Lynch's supremely strange Twin Peaks. At 6 p.m., Lefthand Brewing will arrive to share their Wake Up Dead Imperial Stout, a delicious black ale with notes of raisins, dark chocolate, licorice, and coffee. Also on tap will be 400lb Monkey, an IPA described as "herbal" and "bready" by its brewers. Beer trivia and prizes will be offered during this time as well. Later in the evening Bookhouse, a local jazz band, will take the stage to play music from the Fire Walk With Me movie soundtrack. Clips from the film and television show will be projected on the wall as the band plays. 21+. Wednesday, 6 p.m.

(Brit's Pub & Eating Establishment, 1110 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, 612-332-3908, www.britspub.com)

This week, Brit's is throwing a holiday party sure to entertain. There will be Guinness glass giveaways with free engraving, live music from Dan Israel, who will be covering British hits, and John Cosgrove testing knowledge with a special holiday pub trivia night. Wednesday, 5 p.m.
