Last weekend, the Cowles Center hosted its seventh annual Groundbreaker Battle, a daylong outdoor festival and competition celebrating breakdancing and other hip-hop related arts. This week, the Center is focusing on what's happening inside its downtown location, as it recently announced its upcoming schedule for 2015-16.
As it has in the past, the space will be offering a mix of local acts, returning performers, and national favorites. Twin Cities groups James Sewell Ballet and Zenon Dance Company will be back with seasonal offerings, and Ragamala Dance will be boasting a solo performance from Aparna Ramaswamy. Meanwhile, touring acts like TU Dance and AXIS Dance Company are also on the schedule.
There is also a collaborative effort on the lineup — a first for Cowles Center — as a pairing between Black Label Movement and Contempo Physical Dance is slated.
As for seasonal offerings, Cowles will also be hosting the annual bawdy performance of Nutcracker (not so) Suite, featuring dancers from JSB.
