Ten Thousand Things strips down Eliza and Henry

The show stars Kate Eifrig and Steve Hendrickson as Eliza and Henry, a Cockney girl and the professor from who she takes elocution lessons. What is usually a big confection of a musical is here rendered with a cast of five, getting down to the skeleton of what is a story about gender, class, and power.

The cast is rounded out by Bradley Greenwald, Kimberly Richardson, and Luverne Seifert, and Lear deBessonet directs. This is a sterling cast throughout, and a terribly interesting choice for a company with a remarkable knack for digging out what is true from the shows it tackles (whether those truths are pleasant or not).

My Fair Lady plays at the Minnesota Opera Center May 7-30. Tickets are $25, $15 Sundays for students with ID. Shows are 8:00 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 4:00 p.m. Sun. For tickets click here
