As the season shifts, many classical music groups are preparing for their fall and winter concert series. The Minnesota Opera is no exception, with a full slate of events scheduled through April. And though opera sometimes has an air of stuffiness associated with it, nothing could be further from the truth with the Tempo crowd. The organization's mission is to encourage younger folks in their 20s and 30s to enjoy opera by inviting members to parties, barhopping events, and other fun activities before and after shows.
This Saturday, the group will be hosting a fundraising party at the Minnesota Opera Center. Here guests will be treated to a five-course wine tasting with appetizer pairings. During the event artists will also perform a sampling from some of the pieces to be featured in the 2011-2012 season. Afterwards, the party moves on to the nearby Loop bar, where guests will be able to enjoy live music, drink specials, and an original cocktail dubbed the "Tempotini."
