Taste of México offers cultural enrichment via taste buds

This Sunday the Midtown Global Market will be awash in bright colors, from the papel picado (elaborately cut paper banners) to the fancy costumes of Mariachi bands.

From 2 to 5 p.m. the market will host the Taste of México. Visitors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the country via the magic of their taste buds.

Arriving on a full stomach would be a grand mistake, for sure. So time your arrival so that your belly is growling for lunch. There will be plenty of appetizer samples (past festivals have even included tequila tastings). And, of course, there will be main courses to purchase and desserts galore to choose from. Be sure to take a break from grazing at some point to browse through various traditional arts, crafts, and clothing.

This free, family-friendly event will also include live Mexican band music and a performance by Clown Barrilito.

The Midtown Global Market is located at 2929 Chicago Avenue in Minneapolis.
