While the future of Minneapolis St. Paul Fashion Week is still up in the air and getting sorted out, the local scene is continuing to thrive and plan fab parties. This February, for example, the Red Dress Collection is set to celebrate the color red and Minnesota designers while raising funds for American Heart Association's Go Red for Women program.
The event, now in its third year, features a runway show boasting local celebs in red dresses designed by Minnesota talent. Past looks have ranged from edgy to elegant. The evening also includes a silent auction, wine and food, and other treats. Designers this year include Christopher Straub, Emma Berg, Samantha Rei, Carolyn Hayden, Laura Fulk, Tim Navarro, and Thom Navarro.
The benefit, which traditionally takes place on or near Valentine's Day, will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, February 16 at Graves 601 Hotel. Ticket prices range from $25 to $100, and can be purchased at RedDressMN.com.
While MNfashion is taking a bit of a hiatus, a few other fashion events are happening in February, when Minneapolis St. Paul Fashion Week used to take place. The U of M's College of Design will host its annual senior fashion show the day before, and earlier in the week on V-Day Tim and Thom Navarro will be putting together something called the Black Hearts Ball, featuring fashions from the likes of Danielle Everine, Laura Fulk, Sarah Holm, Rachel Roff, and Carly Schoen.
