Do you have Norwegian ancestry? Audition for this popular Norwegian reality show

This could be you! Why wouldn't you want this to be you?

This could be you! Why wouldn't you want this to be you?

Do you have Norwegian ancestry? Want to travel to Norway for free? Would you be okay with being followed by a camera crew as you do so? Then you may be a good candidate for Alt for Norge (a.k.a. The Great Norway Adventure).

The Emmy award-winning Norwegian reality show follows American contestants as they travel to Norway for the first time. Along the way, they meet distant relatives, take on fun challenges like ski jumping and sailing, and learn a little bit about the culture and history of the country. Ultimately, there is a winner, and that person takes home $50,000.

Minnesotans have fared well on the show, which is now in its seventh year.

“Season six [which is currently airing] features five cast members from Minnesota, which is the most they’ve ever had in a single season," says casting producer Joan O’Connor. "The Norwegian viewers really respond to their authenticity and vulnerability. They’re not in it for the drama or the fame. They’re in it for the once in a lifetime experience of connecting with their ancestry in a profound way.”

So, basically, thirsty contestants with dreams of reality TV stardom need not apply. However, folks who like history, culture, and free travel might find this to be a great fit.

The casting call for season seven will take place at the Executive Center at Mall of America this Sunday, November 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (on the fourth floor). Anyone is welcome to apply, as long as they have some Norwegian ancestry, no matter how remote. Potential contestants must also be 18 or older.
