Piper Kerman (Orange is the New Black) visits the Fitzgerald tonight
Meanwhile, NPR's Ask Me Another is a raucous show featuring pub trivia, live music, and talk show-style chats with interesting folks. The program will be in town tonight for a live taping in front of a studio audience. Kernan will be making an appearance to talk about Orange, television versus reality, and the criminal justice system.
The evening will feature host/comedian/storyteller Ophira Eisenberg as she asks contestants/guests questions and brainteasers both pertaining to local and national news and trivia. Local film buffs, and Mystery Science Theater 3000/Rifftrax alums, Bill Corbett and Kevin Murphy be playing along as well.
Kernan will also take a moment to discuss the hit show, adapted by showrunner Jenji Kohan (Weeds), we all as touching on incarceration issues and her work on the board of the Women's Prison Association.
In a recent interview with NPR, Kernan discussed reality versus inspired fiction on Orange:
There are moments in the very first episode, like when Piper Chapman insults Red, who runs the kitchen with an iron fist -- that is actually very closely derived from what's in the book and from my own life. But there are other parts of the show which are tremendous departures and pure fiction.
