Parties, bands, champagne toasts: Freeloader New Year's Eve

All of the holiday parties of December have come and gone. Now, it's time to attend the big one: New Year's Eve. While the celebration is notorious for eating wallets, it doesn't have to be that way. We've compiled a list of some of the free parties, band gigs, and other happenings around town. No, you probably won't score free drinks at these places (barring the chance of a free champagne toast at midnight), and most of these restaurants will require that you pay for food, but it's free to walk in the door, and the entertainment -- whether you're looking to dance the night away or jam out with a band -- won't cost you a dime.

Come take a look and plan your fun for tonight.
