Once Upon a Crime bookstore is for sale

itemprop

For the past 13 years, Once Upon a Crime has offered a great selection of books from local, national, and international authors. Located slightly off Lyndale on 26th Street in south Minneapolis, the shop is known for its knowledgeable staff, fun author events, and quirky happenings like Write of Spring, which see dozens of authors stop into the store in one day.

Shop owners Pat Frovarp and Gary Shulze announced via email today that they are looking to sell the shop to someone interested in continuing with the bookstore. While business is booming, health issues are a factor:

Pat and I have come to the difficult decision that it's time for someone else to own Once Upon a Crime. The major factor in this decision is time — we're not getting any younger. And speaking for myself, given that I've been undergoing cancer treatments since last October, I'm not getting younger at a faster pace! We've owned OUAC for 13 years as of Aug.1, and the store continues to thrive. My cancer relapse certainly is a motivating factor to sell, but regardless of that, we knew that the day was coming soon that we would have to. We just hope there is someone out there who will eagerly take the reins.
The owners hope to close on a deal by the end of the year. Hopefully the new owners will continue the tradition of being a quirky independent bookstore.
