Northrop's revitalization project approved and underway

Last Friday the Board of Regents at the University of Minnesota gave the thumbs up on plans to give the Northop a facelift. The building, central to the university's campus, closed today and will remain closed until fall of 2013.

The building is also home of the school's honors program, the Institute for Advanced Studies, and Innovation by Design.

The newer, snazzier space will include updated acoustics, better views for audiences, a café, and a coffee bar. According to their press release, the revitalization will increase the amount of study/performance space on the Twin Cities campus by 50 percent.
