Northern Spark announces full lineup for 2014

On June 14, Northern Spark will return to Minneapolis for an all-night celebration featuring performances, pop-up art installations, interactive art pieces, community activities, dance parties, and more until the wee hours of Sunday morning. The festival has already set a date and launched a Kickstarter campaign, but this morning event organizers announced the complete artist/event schedule, so you can plan your all-nighter to the minute. It looks to be pretty exciting.

Highlights include the return of yarn bomber/visual artist HOTTEA. After making waves in New York for his colorful piece,


, which spanned the Williamsburg bridge, he'll be returning to the Twin Cities to create his most ambitious work to date. According to the press release, the work, titled

La Maroma

, will feature a "100-foot span of yarn hanging underneath the Third Avenue Bridge."

Chicago video artist Jefferson Pinder will also be in town to create a film based on local Somali-Americans long-distance runners, Luftwerk will turn the concrete columns of 20 Washington Square into a colorful forest, and Balancing Ground will invite guests to create art while teeter-tottering in downtown Minneapolis.

In total, there will be over 125 projects by over 250 artists on June 14. The event will kick off with a ceremony and party at the Minneapolis Convention Center featuring emcee Mark Wheat, Mayor Betsy Hodges, Mu Daiko, and GRRRL PRTY at 8:30 p.m.
