A few weeks ago, City Pages reported that northeast Minneapolis was currently topping a USA Today readers' poll asking people to vote for the best arts district in the U.S. The results are now in, and we officially top the list.
So what gave us an edge? The newspaper cites the hundreds of artist studios, including Northrup King Building, and events like Art Attack, Art-a-Whirl, and Cache as key reasons why the area is extra special and arty.
The competition was fierce, with SoWa in Boston, Station North in Baltimore, and Detroit's Heidelberg Project coming in second, third, and fourth, respectively. Culver City Arts District, Museum Row on Miracle Mile, and Sante Fe's Railyard Arts District also made the list.
