New Year's resolutions: A different approach

Forget about all the predictable New Year's resolutions like joining a gym to lose weight, saving more money, or trying to find yourself a love match online. Instead, try spicing things up in 2011 with some activities that will force you to think outside the box--maybe even keep you outside that box for a bit longer than would normally be comfortable.

Toss those gym membership applications aside and prepare for something like Appalachian clogging instead, because, why not? For a bunch more head-scratching activities (but hopefully fun), check out our fun list. And in the meantime, here's to the New Year.

Austin, MN: A 2011 Minnesota tour wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Spam Museum. And if that isn't the greatest thing ever, take it to the next level and head out to Waikiki for the annual Spam Jam. There really isn't a better reason to go to Hawaii in 2011.

Darwin, MN: Home of the largest ball of twine in the world. Worth every mile traveled to see it.

Minneapolis, MN: Yes, we realize you probably have seen more than enough of this great city, but have you seen it as a human on a stick (a.k.a., a historical segway tour)?  We thought so.
