Have you ever been out and about on a Friday or Saturday evening and wondered "Man, if only I knew where all the coolest art openings were tonight, maybe I wouldn't end up drinking a 40 by myself in that Applebee's parking lot again."? Well, you're in luck, because local go-to art calendar has busted out with a snazzy new iphone app! You can get your art fix on the spot with their handy-dandy application that pulls up what's going down on any given night with a mere flick of the finger.

The app allows users to discover events happening at hip independent galleries and major museums alike through comprehensive and easy to navigate listings -- complete with an eye-catching layout modeled after the website. By drawing a pink line, swirl or zig zag with your finger across the screen of your iphone, you'll be presented with a spectrum of clickable art images that pull up short paragraphs describing the exhibit in question, along with opening reception info and exhibit run dates. A perfect tool for on-the-go art exploration!

A long-time online destination for local art lovers, helps make the oft-intimidating scene accessible to both newbies and seasoned art hounds alike. Helmed by art instigators Emma Berg and Kristoffer Knutson, the site is not merely an events calendar, it's an indispensable community resource. Berg is an art curator and fashion designer who has put together some of the most buzzed-about exhibits in town, springboarding the careers of many well-known local artists; she is also the resident curator at the Gallery at Fox Tax. Knutson, Managing Director at interactive agency, PUNY, also owns popular design boutique ROBOTlove. Their shared appreciation of the local art scene is the catalyst for, which is run on a volunteer basis by the two.

Bonus: Stop in to the Gallery at Fox Tax over Art-A-Whirl Weekend, May 14th-16th (opening reception on the 14th) to check out the curated exhibit, The Age of Aquarius, featuring up and coming young artists Jesse Draxler, Katelyn Farstad and Josh Journey-Heinz.

The iphone app is available NOW via the itunes store HERE and costs $1. To check out the site online, visit
