MNFashion Week in full swing

Voltage may be over, but there are still plenty of cool events on the docket for MNFashion Week! From clothing swaps to fancy fashion balls, there's a little something for everyone (even the dudes). So bust out your most creative costumes and start planning your stylish weekend itinerary! Below, you'll find a few highlights, but for a complete listing of events visit l'etoile's guide to MNFashion Week here.

Raul Osorio and Vintage City Classics Trunk Show & Vintage Sale

Head to Via's Vintage this Thursday Evening to get up close and personal with the dashing creations of one Raul Osorio. If you went to Voltage: Fashion Amplified you'll likely recall Raul as the first designer to hit the runway, with his mariachi/military-esque tailored jackets, boyish shorts, and gracefully-draped necklines. Though technically a menswear designer, Osorio creates pieces that hint at androgyny that -- with the right styling -- could easily be worn by a fashion forward gal. Also in the mix will be Voltage accessory designer Vintage City Classics, whose Spring collection (along with custom pieces shown on the runway) will be available for purchase. What's better? Today only, Via's is taking 10% off vintage clothing and accessories.

Thursday April 22nd, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Via's Vintage, 2408 Hennepin Ave S, Minneapolis; 612-375-3649. Free.

Catwalk Cabaret Fashion Ball

Anything with the word "Ball" in it usually causes us to snicker or think of diamond tiaras, but in the case of this two-night event at the Ritz Theater, it's all about high-end fashion. A benefit for edgy dance troupe, Ballet of the Dolls, this decadent event will feature stylized runway presentations produced and styled by Grant Whittaker and Myron Johnson (Ballet of the Dolls and Glamorama). Buy fashions hot off the runway in the pop-up boutique from Grethen House, John Novachis, Specs Optical, and Ann Lambrecht Jewelry; bid on cool stuff in the silent auction; sip icy Prairie Vodka cocktails (one free drink with admission) and, well, have a "ball."

Friday, April 23rd & Saturday April 24th, 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.; Ritz Theater, 345 13th Avenue NE, Minneapolis. $30.

The clever upcyclists at CounterCouture keep D.I.Y. in mind with their Saturday afternoon extravaganza at the Grainbelt Bottling House and MNFashion studio. Bring clean, gently-worn fashion items to swap, then have your new finds altered with the help of seasoned pros who will show you how to re-purpose tired garments into something fresh and fashionable! An event designed to demonstrate the "creative evolution" of turning something old into something new, Alter/Nation will not only help you look good, but it'll also teach you a thing or two about being environmentally sound. An eco-friendly fashion show will feature upcycled looks from CounterCouture, Je Ne Regrette Rien, and Marissa Bridges.

Saturday April 23rd, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (fashion show at 4 p.m.); Grainbelt Bottling House, 79 13th Avenue NE, Minneapolis. $5 plus clothing to swap.
