Minneapolis: City of Murals project

Over the past couple months, City Pages photographers have been driving, biking, and bus riding throughout Minneapolis in search of the most unique, cool, and compelling murals that the city has to offer. Subject matter and art styles varied wildly per discovery, and include tributes to great Minnesotans, marriage proposals, Godzilla on a garage door, and wildlife.

We've compiled our finds onto one microsite, www.citypages.com/microsites/cityofmurals. Here you'll find photos of these colorful murals organized by neighborhood. Want to make a day of it? There's plenty of suggestions for galleries, delis, theaters, and parks to stop by while in the area.

Finally, some murals are too massive to be contained to one image. The TractorWorks Building in the Warehouse District (also known as the Loop neighborhood) features six floors of gorgeous art. Take a look at our walking tour of the building's artwork below:
