Mayor Chris Coleman declares Friday, April 19 as Wits Day in St. Paul
Now in its fourth year, MPR's Wits series has invited standup comedians, actors, musicians, and other big personalities to partake in a low-key evening featuring casual (and often tangential) talks, skits, and musical sets. Guests have included Patton Oswalt, W. Kamau Bell, Andy Richter, and Amy Sedaris. The event has grown in popularity over the years, as what was once only a St. Paul happening is now a podcast and nationally syndicated radio program.

Today, the event has another feather to add to its cap, as St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman has proclaimed Friday, April 19 as Wits Day.

"Wits is a perfect example of a St. Paul classic that has gone national," says Coleman via press release. "Saint Paulites value quality, and with Wits' skillful mix of entertainment and enlightenment, it's no wonder it is in its fourth successful season and has been turned into a national show. I have no doubt many successful seasons are in the future for Wits, and I'm looking forward to listening."

Audiences will be able to watch official proceedings live, as Coleman will make an appearance at the Friday, April 19 show at the Fitzgerald to present Wits host John Moe with the proclamation. The evening's guests will include comedian Tig Notoro and musician Kathleen Edwards.
