Maria Bamford will be joining Netflix queues soon, as the streaming service has ordered 13 episodes of a comedy series starring the Minnesota standup and voice actor.
[jump] According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lady Dynamite is a single-camera comedy that follows Bamford's character through the past and present as she "loses — and then finds — her shit." Bamford is no stranger to the topic, as she has worked her struggles with depression, anxiety, and family dysfunction into her standup for years.
The project comes with promising pedigree. Mitch Hurwitz (Arrested Development) and Pam Brady (South Park) wrote the pilot, and the two will co-produce the show with Bamford. Brady will also serve as showrunner.
There's no word yet on when the show will start streaming, but it will be in good — and potentially weird — company, as other upcoming Netflix comedies include the return of Wet Hot American Summer in series form and a Will Arnett vehicle, Flaked.
