Lyn-Lake's Tatters is closing

Sad news for lovers of vintage today: Marc Luers, owner of Tatters, announced via Minnesota Monthly that the clothing shop will be closing soon. The store has been open since 1980.
Tatters was a great place to shop for vintage boots, hats, shirts, and more, whether you were going for a Western look or that of a posh '60s ad exec. You could also score cute dresses there, or even a Halloween costume where certain elements might make it into regular wardrobe rotation.
The shop is closing due to multiple reasons, including rising property taxes in the area and poor sales during the winter (thanks, snowpocalypse). While no official closing date has been set, final sales will start this Monday.
It will be interesting to see how the Lyn-Lake area shapes up over the next few years, as the influx of condos, bro bars, and shifting businesses is changing the landscape of the neighborhood to look more like Uptown each day.
In the meantime, you can keep up to date with Tatters via its Facebook page.
