This open studio tour features over 500 artists showcasing their work. Expect gallery parties, demonstrations, and lots of live music. Check their website for a complete list of locations, or pick up a map at the welcoming booths at 13th and Marshall or Quincy Street and Broadway. There will also be free trolleys to take you around town on Saturday and Sunday. The Slow Mirror and the Metronome

It's an art gallery and rock venue on a river. Hell yes! Check out artwork and projects by producer Joe Belk, filmmaker Phil Harder, and the Creative Electric Studios crew. Do you miss MN Fashion Week already? Then you should definitely visit this art show and clothing sale benefitting the constantly evolving, ever-expanding non-profit MNfashion. At this party you can shop for snazzy thrift threads and jewelry items. From the Archives will also feature a fashion photography exhibit showcasing past work from Staciann Photography, l'etoile Magazine, Stephanie Colgan Photography, and Kari Koehler, as well as vintage Voltage rock posters. All proceeds benefit MN Fashion. 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Looking to get more green in your life? Then this market featuring locally-grown produce is worth the road trip. Here, you'll find in-season fruits and veggies grown by local farmers, tasty fruit pies, homemade jams, plants for your garden, and other gifts. There will also be meats and cheeses made by the University of Minnesota. The market is located at the same spot as the AppleHouse, which is at the intersection of State Highway 5 and Rolling Acres Road, approximately a mile and a half west from the Arboretum's main entrance. To celebrate their 25th anniversary Canterbury Park is offering free admission to the races all spring and summer long. Other deals include free pony rides for kids on Sundays, and $1 deals on Thursdays. 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays (and Thursdays starting June 3); 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Escape from Coney Island

Did you know that both the hot dog and the roller coaster originated on Coney Island? In its heyday it was also an explosion of freak shows, junk food, and affordable hedonism. This group show will explore this historic location, aka the cradle of U.S. popular culture. The opening reception from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. features music from Nice Purse and UltraChorus.

Free Ink Day: It's Spring!

Try your hand at printmaking at this fun and super-popular event. Author and illustrator Julie Jersild Roth will be on hand to lend some springtime inspiration. This is also a great activity for kids. And you may end up with art worth framing rather than sticking to the fridge or taping to the wall. 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Second Nature

This will be the first solo show for artist Sonja Peterson. Her neutral-toned pieces feature incredibly detailed cut paper that creates a web as intricate as lace. In "Second Nature," Peterson pits nature against technology with images including animals and machine. The artist hopes to give us pause as to who or what causes greater chaos: man or the wild? The opening reception will be this Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Dandelion Day Celebration

Don't be a hater: Dandelions are some of the prettiest weeds out there. Pop a couple doses of Claritin and head over to this fun event. There will be dandelion ring making, tours of the house (which is over 100 years old), face painting, and recipes using the sunniest of weeds. You'll definitely want to try making dandelion wine when you get home. 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. It's free, but donations are welcome.
