Internet Cat Video Festival Finds New Home, Now with Balls

As many people know, the Walker Art Center's Internet Cat Video Festival is a big deal. Each year, cat lovers convene online to submit, watch, and vote on the best kitty videos on the internet. Then in the summer, they come together in real life to watch the best of the best on the big screen.

This year, the Internet Cat Video Festival is going big.

This afternoon the museum announced two things: A date and a location.

The 2015 cat happening will be heading to Lowertown St. Paul to celebrate in the brand-new St. Paul Saints stadium. The gathering for cinematic cat glory will be on the evening of Wednesday, August 12.

So, are you freaking out yet? This is big news, guys. Ticket prices will be set at a later date, with sales starting June 2. In the meantime, the Walker is accepting nominations on the official event site here. After doing a fab job last year, Will Braden of the Golden Kitty-winning Henri Le Chat Noir fame will be returning to curate this year's selections.

The first year saw huge crowds on the Walker's lawn. The following year, they took over the State Fair Grandstand for an evening. Last year the returned to basics, going back to the lawn. With record crowds each year -- and numbers continuing to grow -- this move to a mega-stadium seems like a wise one.
