Internet Cat Video Festival 2014 sets date, location

Now in its third year, the Walker Art Center's Internet Cat Video Festival is a local event that draws in celebrity cats from around the country, journalists from around the world, and cat fans from all over. The first year was a blowout happening on the museum's hilly lawn, while last year invited crowds to watch cat flicks in sweltering heat at the Grandstand at the Minnesota State Fair.

For the 2014 festival, the gathering will be going back to its roots and returning to the Walker's lawn.

You could be the Walker's new "Internet Cat Video Festival Coordinator"

[jump] For those of us who have been watching the job posting section of the Walker's website, the date and location was discovered in its call for an Internet Cat Video Festival coordinator. However, the museum went public this afternoon with a press release announcing the official date and location.

So yes, the happening is indeed returning to the museum's giant lawn, which overlooks the Sculpture Garden, and also hosts the ever-popular Rock the Garden. Going back to the original formula, the cat fest will be free, and part of Open Field, which was on hiatus in 2013 during construction on the museum's south side. The date for the event is set for August 14.

Working hard on making the gathering as cat-tastic as ever will be Will Braden, the first winner of the Golden Kitty people's choice award (he took home gold for his Henri le Chat Noir videos).

And that's all we have for now, folks. Video submissions and other information about the festival will open up next month.
