Hardt Jewelry, a brand with a heart, celebrates one year today

After spending a decade in the corporate jewelry industry, Anne Lenhardt Koebele wanted to get back to what she loves: creating and expressing herself through her designs. So she launched Hardt Jewelry, a fashion-meets-philanthropy brand based in Minneapolis that donates a portion of its proceeds from special collections to non-profit partners.

"[Giving back] really is where my heart is,” says Koebele. Hardt has partnered with non-profit organizations such as RECLAIM, which offers mental-health support to LGBTQ youth, and Pet Project Rescue, a foster-based animal rescue. She is also planning future partnerships, with a focus on “something along the lines of empowerment, to raise confidence and self-esteem in young people.”

Hardt's current jewelry line features interesting, angular designs based on clean lines and different colors and finishes. “Doing pieces in different colors changes the look of a piece," Koebele says. "Even the finish does. I like playing with textures to keep it fresh.”

Hardt Jewelry recently celebrated its one-year anniversary. One of the biggest moves the brand made in its first year was opening a showroom at the Northwind Lofts. Koebele had previously been working out of her apartment. Boxes and merchandise were stacked throughout her place, which was disruptive. “I design clean and simple. I couldn’t work with all the clutter and mess,” she says.

Tonight, the brand will be celebrating its anniversary with the Hardt Holiday Party at the showroom. Guests can look forward to drinks and snacks, a festive photo booth, social media giveaways, and a 25-percent discount on all merchandise.

A limited-edition necklace will also be released at the party. The piece is a bolder play on the brand’s signature angled heart, and is also a preview of what’s in store. Spring 2016's new full collection will feature “bigger pieces and statement jewelry to mix with the delicate pieces [from the first year],” she says.
