'Glee' is coming to the Twin Cities this summer
If there's a hot iron out there somewhere, the folks behind Glee are striking the shit out of it right now. The show recently hit a ratings high with its post Super Bowl screening, exposing drunk guys in cheese hats to the enthusiastic, nonsensical, auto-tuned camp that is the essence of the show. But is the media saturation approaching critical overload? Probably. Tie-ins with Opi nail polish and a novelization of the series geared at tweens seem tenuous at best. Either way, fans who can't get enough, otherwise known as "Gleeks," will be able to get even more from the hit phenomenon this summer as Glee hits the road once again.
The tour's cast includes Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Mark Salling, Dianna Agron, Naya Rivera, Heather Morris, and Harry Shum, Jr. New to the concert, and presumably the show's grueling production and promotion schedule, are Darren Criss and Chord Overstreet (yes, that is his real name). The concert features popular tunes from the television show, including "My Life Would Suck without You,""Toxic," and "Don't Stop Believing."
"There is something magical about thousands of 'Gleeks' coming together to share a special night with our cast," states show creator Ryan Murphy, "and this tour is one way we can thank them for their unbelievable support from the beginning."
You can thank the show back by purchasing tickets Saturday, February 19. Glee Live! In Concert! will be at the Target Center in Minneapolis June 1. For more info, visit www.gleetour.com.
