Freeloader Friday: Crashed Ice, ninja warriors, and the Art Shanties return


This week in free things to do we have two intense sporting events, a party where you pay with kindness, plenty of chances to score complimentary food, and the final week of the Art Shanty Project. Come take a look at our list and plan your weekend.


Red Bull Crashed Ice Finals

Punk Rock for Pencils

Featuring Blood Cookie, with Puff Puff, Cool Dog, and Ego Death. Bring school supplies to benefit Minneapolis students in need. 10 p.m.


Art Shanty Projects

After a week off due to warm temps, the Shanties are back (but on more stable ground). Come enjoy the interactive public art and activities for the final week. More info at Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Ninja Warrior Competition

Watch kids and grownups compete using their ninja skills, which could eventually land them on the notorious TV show. Sat., 9 a.m.-5 p.m.  

I AM Kindness Gallery Show

This amazing free art party invites patrons to "purchase" art through acts of generosity, determined by the artist. This might entail volunteering at an animal shelter or donating time to a local nonprofit. There will also be an open bar, a coffee cart, and after-party on the rooftop. Free valet parking will also be available. 6 p.m. 

Pop-Up Market

The “smallest museum in St. Paul” hosts artist Anne Jin Soo Preston, who is inviting folks to come and contribute to her crocheted miniature replica of Workhorse Coffee Bar. The final gathering is this Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m.
