Franklin Art Works to sell space and relocate
After 13 years and over 140 exhibitions in the beautiful, historic movie-theater space, Franklin Art Works is moving on. Director Tim Peterson announced today via press release that the organization will be packing up at the end of its current shows on August 10.

Although the gallery is moving out, it is also moving on. Peterson states that the new space will be announced in the coming months.

Over the years, Franklin Art Works has hosted a variety of solo shows from artists both regional and national, and was one of the earlier examples of a still growing trend of using unusual buildings and spaces as a venue for exhibitions.

"This is an exceptional opportunity to embrace what we have done best and consider new ways we can support the work of artists and promote the cause of contemporary art," says Peterson. "I am as proud of our current exhibitions with Njideka Akunyili and Demetrius Oliver as I was of the first with Rob Fischer -- and every project in between."

Before moving to new digs, Franklin Art Works will throw a closing party, both for its current shows and the space itself, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 10.
