Last minute holiday shopping can be a real drag, and given this is the final weekend before Christmas, shops and stores of all kinds will surely be crammed.
But throw in some nice deals, a few giveaways, and an ugly sweater contest at Calhoun Square's Festival of the Last Minute, and shopping among all the slackers might not be so bad.
The Festival of the Last Minute
at Calhoun Square will run this Saturday from 3 until 7 p.m., and will include deals at almost every store, plus gift card giveaways throughout the day. The Independent will play host to an ugly holiday sweater contest, handing out a $100 gift card to the best individual, and a $250 gift card to the best group.
Shoppers without an ugly sweater can still register for a plethora of gift cards to various restaurants and shops in Calhoun Square.
A pet-friendly event, shoppers can also have their pet's photo taken with Santa for $5, with the proceeds going towards Secondhand Hounds. Even if you don't have a pooch or a kitty of your own, watching Santa encounter all those squirmy four-pawed creatures might be worth a stop.
Retailers will also have plenty of sales and discounted offers during the Festival, from drink deals at Famous Dave's to discounted gift card purchases at Uptown Cafeteria, Kitchen Window, and more. Just think, if your ugly holiday sweater is a crowd pleaser, you could top off the long day of shopping with a cool drink or two (or three) with your winnings.
